Our School Day
It is very important that your child is an attendance HERO!
HERE!
EVERY DAY!
READY!
ON TIME!
The gates to school are opened at 8.30am each morning.
The doors will open for your child to enter school at 8.40am, and registration is at 8:45am. School closes at 3:15pm.
As such school complies with the Department for Educations recommendation of a 32.5 hour week.
Late Arrival
After 8.45am, if your child arrives late then they should be brought to the main school office and signed in using the Inventry touch screen system. This will ask for the reason for lateness and record how many minutes.
Absence - illness
If your child is absent through illness then please phone the school office 0113 271 2093 and report this. It is very important that we know where all our children and young people are, especially if they are not in school! If you do not contact school, school will contact you either by phone or, if necessary, a home visit. This is part of our safeguarding procedures.
Absence - appointment
If your child has an appointment, for example a doctor's appointment, then please speak to the school office in advance so we are aware. If your child is well enough, then please bring your child to school after the appointment. We request that routine appointments are booked outside of school hours.
If your child's appointment is not until late morning or afternoon, then please bring your child to school as normal and then collect them from school. They will need to be signed out using the Inventry touch screen system. This will ask for the reason for early collection and issue you a permission slip.
Absence - holidays
Holidays and overseas visits to see family during term time are strongly discouraged, as your child is missing key learning!
If you do plan a trip during term time, then you must complete a form at the school office. It is extremely unlikely, unless there are exceptional circumstances, that a holiday or overseas visit will be authorised by Mrs Williams.
Teacher will not provide class work for children who miss school time due to a holiday.
National Framework for Penalty Notices
Please also note that holidays/overseas visits during school time may result in a fixed penalty notice.
Please see the document below regarding the National Framework for Penalty Notices which came into force on 19th August 2024.
