Welcome back and welcome to 2025! We hope you all had a peaceful, relaxing and happy Christmas time
This half term we will be busy learning lots of new things and taking Year 6 by the horns:
- In RE, our topic is 'Exploring the Mass' where we will be looking at the different parts of mass and what these symbolise.
- In English and Guided Reading we are studying 'Survivors' a Non-Fiction book telling the stories of some incredible people and exploring their extraordinary tales from the wild and beyond. Using this book as our inspiration we will be writing our own survivor story that will be created over the weeks of this half term.
- In Maths, we will be switching our focus to Decimals, percentages and converting units throughout this half term.
- We will be learning all about The Changing World in Geography.
- In Science we will be learning all about Light.
- PE will be on a Monday and Thursday. Please can all children be dressed appropriately for both. Dark tracksuit (dark blue, black or grey), white t-shirt and trainers.
- Spellings will be set on a Tuesday for a test the following Monday.
- Homework will be sent home on a Friday with an expectation of it being returned on Tuesday morning. It will be related to current learning in class.
We look forward to an exciting third half term as we make our way towards Easter time. As always reading at home will be extremely helpful for the children's continued learning.
Maths Boosters
Boosters will be happening on Thursdays after school for invited pupils to begin with. these sessions will last one hour until 16:15 and will help us to extend and enhance the Maths learning of our pupils.

Year Six have COMPLETED SATs!!! We are extremely proud for every single one of you, they have all worked so hard!
Dear Year 6s,
Before what next week brings,
We need you to remember
These important things.
SATs don't measure sports
SATs don't measure art,
SATs don't measure music,
Or the kindness in your heart.
SATs don't see your beauty,
SATs don't know your worth,
SATs don't see the reasons,
You were put upon this earth.
SATs don't see your magic,
How you make others smile,
SATs don't time how quickly,
You can run a mile.
SATs don't hear your laughter,
Or see you've come this far,
SATs are just a tiny glimpse,
Of who you really are.
This weekend when you’re at home,
Or tucked up in your bed.
Have a good laugh, read a good book,
Do not let a worry enter your head.
Remember to have a good breakfast
And a good night's sleep.
Get outside for a walk,
Make memories you can keep.
Then next week whilst sat at your desk,
With your pencil, ruler and your test,
Remember SATs aren't who you are,
That’s because you are the best!
SPAG revision answers
“May I be patient with my friends, and may I forgive freely like you have forgiven me. May I shine your light in my friendships, giving glory to you through all that I do, say, and think.”
