Geography
Geography Intent
To inspire children to develop an understanding and knowledge about the world and their place in it. To allow pupils to develop and apply geographical enquiry skills to deepen their understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes. We will inspire in children a curiosity and fascination about the world promoting interest and understanding of diverse places, people, resources and both human and natural environments.
What topics are taught at St Joseph's?
Each year group will be taught three Geography topics per year.
You will notice that some topics are repeated in different year groups. Children will build on previous knowledge and skills each time they are taught the topics. For Example, in KS1 children will learn what maps are and how to read a map using a 2-figure gird reference. By Year 6 children will learn how to map read using a 6-figure grid reference.
If you feel you have any specific skills or resources that could support the teaching of Geography in our school please speak with Mrs Elwen.
