Animals Including Humans
In Year 3, children will explore the science topic “Animals Including Humans.” This unit helps them understand the basic needs and life processes of animals and humans. They will learn how humans and other animals need food, water, and air to survive. Children will begin to understand the importance of nutrition and that animals get their food in different ways—some are herbivores, carnivores, or omnivores.
The topic also includes studying the skeleton and muscles. Children will learn that humans and certain animals have skeletons that provide support, protection, and facilitate movement. They will identify the main bones in the human body and investigate how muscles work in pairs to move bones at joints.
