In guided reading, the children are studying the fiction story The Wild Robot by Peter Brown.  We use the VIPERS acronym to aid in recalling the six reading domains as part of the reading curriculum. This supports and develops children's comprehension of reading. VIPERS stands for Vocabulary, Inference, Prediction, Explanation, Retrieval, and Sequence or Summarise. In fluency, the children are reading the text "Flat Stanley" by Jeff Brown. They should practice reading fluently and at a moderate pace, pausing at punctuation to aid comprehension. 

You can help your child by joining the local library and spending time at home reading books for pleasure.
