Sacraments
Growing in Our Faith
The Sacraments
There are seven Sacraments in Catholic Church:
Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Penance, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders & Matrimony.
In the Diocese of Leeds, one of the Sacraments of Healing and two of Initiation & Belonging (Reconciliation, Holy Communion and Confirmation) are celebrated for children during their years of primary education.
Reconciliation in Year 3 (Ages seven and eight)
Holy Communion in Year 4 (Ages eight and nine)
Confirmation in the first part of Year 6 (Ages ten and eleven).
At St Joseph’s, we are deeply committed to nurturing the spiritual growth of our students through the Sacramental life of the Church. Our school community fully supports the preparation and celebration of the Sacraments of Initiation and Belonging (including Baptism), walking alongside children and their families as they deepen their relationship with God.
Families wishing to enrol their children in any Sacramental program are invited to collect the necessary forms from the school office.
For any further information or questions, please don’t hesitate to speak with Fr Jude, who will be delighted to assist you on this important faith journey.
